Championship Day!

Saturday was the 1st grade football championship - Mustangs vs Mavericks. We were so excited for this game since they had ended in a tie last week.  We have had an amazing year, with  a 9-1-1 record we were the team to beat.

I need to pause for a minute to once again brag on all the people who made this year great.  We have the best parents - football and cheerleading.  Everyone was always willing to step up and help in whatever way they could.  From rushing to get megaphones, to donating a bus (more on that below), to getting kids to practice and of course making awesome signs. The pictures I have used all season are from another parent who has just amazing talent, thank Bill for the great pictures. Without all the wonderful parents this season would not have been as fun and as exciting.

We have the MOST AWESOME COACHES!!  In all the games we played we were the ONLY team that rotated the boys, the ONLY team that allowed everyone an opportunity to run the ball or play quarterback, the ONLY team, in my opinion, to embrace what 1st grade football is all about - LEARNING THE GAME!!! All of those things were COACH emphasized.  Darin, Jason, Kyle, Joe and Jeremy did an amazing job at teaching different boys every week to play those key skill positions and give each boy an opportunity to show their stuff.  It wasn't always about winning, though it was nice that we did, it was allowuing the boys to learn the correct way to play football and to build confidence in themselves.  Like I said - WE HAVE THE BEST COACHES!

On to the day - I could give a long and lengthy play by play, but pictures are way more fun so here is the day in pictures!

This is how the Mustangs roll (Thank you to the Dipert family for providing the bus)

Coach Darinnnn.....

I told you we have the BEST PARENTS - Ashley made 7 signs to hang and 2 signs for the boys to run through!

Did I mention we totally won the sign battle (NOPE I am not competitive, at all)

We left the signs for the our 2nd grade team as well.

Let's get the game started!
