Connor

Connor is now 10 and in the 5th grade.  This kid continues to amaze me every day.  He is a very hard worker at everything he does.  He doesn't sit still and is constantly on the go.  We have not found a sport he doesn't like.  We are currently in the middle of football season and soccer season.  He gets more and more exciting to watch as he begins to understand both games.  He has a very analytical brain and will pick through each play as we drive home.  He is a competitor and does not like to lose (he got a double dose from both his mom and dad).

He is also still taking pitching lessons. He has been with the same pitching coach for a couple of years now and they work well together.  We really like this coach as he takes things very slow.  He is more interested in making sure Connor's form and technique is correct verse teaching him a bunch of different types of pitches which is exactly what we want.  Connor is not ready to commit to any one sport and we are good with that, and he will pick baseball back up in the fall.  He will also mix in a little basketball in between  football/soccer season and baseball season.

Despite all of his sports commitments and busy schedule, he knows that school comes first.  He does a great job getting his homework done and just being an all around good student.  He is starting to enjoy reading more and more and on some nights will even choose reading over TV.  This week he was chosen by his homeroom teacher as student of the week.  We are truly so very proud of the young man he is becoming.

As a 5th grader at church he is also getting to take on a little bit more leadership roll with the children's ministry.  They have some special Sunday night activities and have been given the challenge to collect 450 donated coats new or slightly used for another elementary in Arlington.  I was blown away when I got an email from his teacher the 2nd week of school that he had made an announcement to his class and well now I have several trash bags full of coats waiting to be dropped off at church.

Here are some pictures of this sweet boy in action.  He warms my heart and I could not be any proud of him.
